Pagosa Springs

The last weekend in June found us taking the Miamaids and Laurels to Pagosa Springs on a trip they had planned and worked for for months. I had never been to Pagosa, and it was fun to see the gorgeous area. We stayed at a family cabin of Niki Sanchez.  that was just perfect for all of us. Wes and Bishop went as our priesthood holders; Wes brought up our motor home for them to stay in. Nik, Yoni, and I were the female leaders. The first day we drove up and then unloaded at the cabin, and took the girls on a 6 mile hike, roundtrip. The waterfalls were gorgeous and huge.

It was even greener in real life, these pictures do not do the landscape justice.

After rafting we went to the hot springs. The smell was pretty bad, and some of those pools are so dang hot you will get burned! Quite the contrast from the river water that was in the 40 degree range. The hot springs butts up to the river, so you can cool off in between soaks.

The next day we went white water rafting, something I have never done, and never wanted to do. But that was probably the highlight of the trip for most of us. Originally we were supposed to float down the river, but with all the snow we got last winter, the river level was higher than normal, so we went rafting instead.

Lots of inside jokes about Wesley, the guide who looked like Captain Jack Sparrow, and sitting "crack on crack" and talking about draining the "booty juice" from our water shoes.
