Raising Up a Barn

Wes's goal this summer was to get a barn built on our property so we could keep our horses and sheep here, and not have to go to the corral everyday to feed. Earlier in the year he cleared the area, and we hired some people we know to level it and pour the concrete foundation for the metal building.  I think it took close to 30 loads of dirt to get it level (this part of our property on the east side of the house really slopes downhill)!

It took forever to get the ball rolling on the building, but once the crew started, it only took a day and a half or so-it really quick!

This side has five openings for horse stalls (they weren't put up yet in this picture)

There is still so much to be done before winter, when we hope to bring the horses home from the ranch. We still need to run water and electrical, put in all the gates, fencing, an outside fence all the way around for them to roam, etc... little by little this house/acreage is becoming a home.

The kick wall is up all around the building.
