Horse back riding

The kids and Wes spend most of their horse-back riding time up at the ranch. Usually the three older kids will ride with him to go check on the cows and make sure they are where they are supposed to be. Jaxson always rides Hercules, Hallie on Big  Red, and Wes on Chet. Kamryn either rides with Hallie or Wes, sometimes Addi goes with Wes too. And then Kimber will get a little ride at the end.

 

They all prefer riding up there with wide open spaces to riding at home, so Wes does a lot of hauling the horse trailer with horses and tack back and forth. Sometimes we leave the big horses up there for a week or two at a time.

The horses are a lot of work, as we knew they would be, but Hallie and Jaxson have put in a lot of time with them. They are still responsible for feeding/watering them before school, which means waking up earlier than normal. I have zero responsibility with them, and I am perfectly ok with that!
