Jaxson's basketball season

Jaxson just finished up his basketball season last weekend. He was on the Jazz this year, and for some reason, their jerseys were bright pink. That boy just can't escape the pink in his life. He played pretty darn good this year, despite some hardships that his team had. He always plays aggressively, fighting over every ball until the ref would declare a jump ball. His lay-up shooting improved, though he always misses more than he makes in a game. He plays with his heart, no matter how bad his team was losing. I think they only ended up winning a couple of games, lost almost all, and tied one.

The most entertaining game was when it ended in a tie and they let the kids do a shoot out. The other team made one out of two, and then we matched it. The next round went the same, and then our coach put Jaxson in the hot seat for the third round (he was so nervous!), the other team's player missed both, and Jaxson missed his first shot. There was so much pressure on him, but he managed to make the second shot for the win!

Lots of good life lessons are learned playing sports this young: perseverance in the face of adversity, hard work, teamwork, how to handle losing gracefully, how to take critiques and work to improve.  We've tried to teach him that it doesn't matter if you win as a team, as long as you are trying to improve yourself.  Not to mention it's good exercise! Most games he would leave dripping in sweat from running so much and trying to be everywhere for everyone.
