State Baseball Tournament

So Jaxson's baseball team made it to the state tournament in Farmington, NM. The tournament started on a Thursday and their last game was Saturday. The road to the tournament was kind of a crazy one, but I won't go into that. We knew going into the tournament that Gallup typically doesn't win-at all. We are a small town competing against traveling teams who basically live baseball year round and travel from tournament to tournament. It was HOT! It was 100 degrees the days we were there, and trying to stay cool was our main priority while we watched the games. We bought fans with misters, cooling towels, a rolling ice chest with plenty of drinks, etc.

Morgan was exhausted because the hotel didn't have a portable crib and I was to too cheap to go buy one when I already own 2. So she didn't get naps, and slept minimally at night.

It was sure fun to watch Jaxson play. Tournament rules are very different than we were used to. You could only throw 20 pitches if you wanted to be eligible to pitch the next day, and we only have so many pitchers. Anyway, he pitched during a couple of the games, even though he usually plays 2nd base or short stop.

The did two pool games, and then its a double elimination tournament. They lost the first two, one the next one, and lost the last one. Overall it was a great experience for Jaxson and us. Through donations his team was able to do some fun stuff between games as well, so they really bonded, and it was fun to see Jaxson in that element.
We can't say enough good things about Jaxsons's coaches. They were fair and respectful, encouraging always. Jaxson learned so much from them, and they always made him feel confident in what he was doing, even when it was a new or scary situation. Jaxson learned to love baseball and can't wait to play next year.

They had a couple of extra shirts, so a couple of our girls are honorary members now.

After a looong day of multiple games in the heat, and a late dinner with the team, I looked over to see Kimber asleep in her chair, haha.
