Soccer 2019

This soccer season has been a little less hectic in some way from last season. We have a head referee this year, so I don't have to worry about scheduling refs, which is huge!! And we are taking turns with the whole board doing the goal/lights/bathrooms, which is also huge! We are down to 4 teams this year since Hallie and Jaxson are on the same team. Technically Morgan is old enough to play this year(!) but we decided to hold off on that for at least another year. On the flip side, we have started up middle school soccer for the first time ever, which takes up the whole afternoon/ evening every Saturday. Wes is coaching Hallie and Jaxson as well as the two Gallup Mid teams. It is taking so much of his spare time.

So Hallie and Jaxson are playing u15 coed, All American team. They are both playing well. Hallie especially has surprised us with how well she is playing and running the defense as their sweeper. We have gotten many, many comments on how well she is playing. Jaxson usually plays center mid and is keeping track of his goal. He is trying to hit 25 this year. Most of his goals are during the mid school games. They are both playing for Gallup Mid. Those games are a lot of fun, music blaring, school pride on the line. Last week Gallup Mid was down 2-1, and came back to win-Jaxson scored the last goal as the very last play of the game to win it 3-2. It was so exciting for him. The game was called right after his goal, and as he ran back to the sidelines, his team surrounded him and picked him up.

Kamryn is playing u12 girls, TM Storage. She plays either striker or mid. Her knowledge and passing is getting a lot better. Her team is only just starting to figure out how to play as a team. This year we are creating All-Star teams for u10, u12, and u15 teams and taking them to a tournament in Farmington at the end of the season. All three older kids made the All-Star teams and will be traveling to the tournament.

Addi is in u10 girls this year, on the Desert Indian Traders team. She usually plays as a defender, and still kind of has no clue what she is doing, especially on the big field. She is showing more aggression though! One of her best friends is also on the team and that has made it really fun for her, and good for me too.

Wes working with Kamryn and teaching her a sweet new move.

Hallie and Jaxson are also reffing again this year. Because they play on the same team, they can always ref the same games, and so that makes life a little easier too.

Our Friday/Saturdays are exhausting and we really relish our Sundays. Unfortunately, soccer is pretty much a year round sport for us, but I still look forward to the end of the recreational season.
